Green apprenticeships celebrated in honour of the Coronation

The government has announced that six green apprenticeships are to be marked with the Coronation emblem in recognition of their sustainability credentials.

In honour of His Majesty The King’s Coronation, six green apprenticeships have been selected by industry experts in recognition of their sustainability credentials to carry the mark of the coronation. The apprenticeships, which include Low Carbon Heating Technician, Sustainability Business Specialist and Countryside Worker have been selected for their contribution to creating a low carbon economy by ensuring the country’s workforce is equipped with the skills needed to support the transition to net zero.

The 6 apprenticeships are:

  • Countryside Worker (level 2)
  • Forest Craftsperson (level 3)
  • Low Carbon Heating Technician (level 3)
  • Installation Electrician and Maintenance Electrician (level 3)
  • Sustainability Business Specialist (level 7)
  • Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner (level 4)

They reflect His Majesty’s longstanding commitment to ensuring natural assets endure for future generations, integrating renewable energy sources into our everyday lives, and applying sustainability into every aspect of our economy, and were selected from a list of over 200 identified by IfATE’s expert green skills panel.

Simon Lee, Technical Director of Energy Network Services Ltd, had this to say:

"We currently offer the Installation Electrician and Maintenance Electrician (level 3) as part of our Apprenticeship Training. Protecting the natural environment and developing a mindset of sustainability with new employees who are paving a career into this important industry has never been so important. They are the future of the energy infrastrure, and they will help us to achieve our targets as we move closer to the Net Zero.

Education has always been a priority here at ENS, and it has never been more important to protect our planet and reduce the impact of climate change. We hope many other companies like ours will continue to offer this gold-standard apprenticeship, and drive the industry forward to a more sustainable future."
