Shell Service Station, Portland

Shell Service Station, Portland

At the end of the Summer 2021, the new Shell Service Station at Osprey Quay, Portland was fully operational and open for business.

Dorset Council approved the redevelopment of the derelict site back in March with the investors Forelle Estates, who independently own, invest and manage a large number of projects in the Southwest.

Energy Network Services proudly adopted the network design for the electricity connectivity as the ICP for the project. In less than 6 months, our design engineers meticulously planned the network installation, and our team of site engineers crafted the site works. We successfully delivered the infrastructure to install a brand new substation for the Shell Service Station, and supporting the rollout of another EV charging station servicing Budgens Supermarket, Costa and Greggs Drive-Through ready for the grand opening on 12th August 2021.

Falcon Retain Ltd, another independent, Southwest based company currently operate the site, along with four other sites in the area. ENS continue to develop and progress towards sustainable electricity and our Net Zero targets, working closely with leading IDNO UK Power Distribution in the region.

Along with supporting local, independent businesses to evolve and expand, the construction of the  11kV voltage works, with its specialist earthing design and the 500kVA Infrastructure Rating provided many jobs within the construction industry. Now completed, the site is expected to provide at least 30 job opportunities, supporting the community and encouraging the progression and redevelopment of the rest of the site, paving the way for greater opportunities for the island.
