Kickstart – Technical Assistant

Are you interested in becoming a Technical Administrator / Assistant? Are you well organised, up to date with current IT technology and can multi-task?

We are currently looking for a young person with strong administrative, organisation, communication and IT skills, who would like to work in a varied role with the opportunity to gain technical industry skills and experience.

 

Our company is a leading Electrical Utility/Distribution organisation based in the south west region who work closely with licenced distribution companies and construction/property developers of all sizes. We offer training and support to all our employees including apprenticeship and career development programmes, and are now looking to extend this into the Kickstart scheme.

 

What you’ll be doing:
  • Reporting to the Engineering Manager for day to day tasks
  • Learning how to provide technical administration support including COSHH assessments/MSDS, writing up of technical maintenance/investigation reports from site engineers and electronic and paper based filing of project admin.
  • Providing general administrative support to the office team.
  • Responding to client enquiries, including assisting with estimations and technical support
  • Attending meetings with project engineers for minute taking
  • At times attending site locations to assist engineers/technicians
  • Learning how to accurately maintain internal databases for projects, assets, stock and training.
  • Following procedures and practices for internal and external tasks and the understanding of why these are important in business.
  • Assisting the Quality Managers with conducting quality audits under ISO 9001 and LR NERS
  • What you’ll learn

    What we are looking for
    • Someone who is as willing to learn as we are to teach
    • A “Can do” attitude to working and learning new skills
    • Strong administration and organisation skills
    • The ability to write basic reports
    • English and maths GCSE
    • FULLY IT Literate - email, word, excel, Microsoft 365
    • A methodical working practice
    • An interest in technical work in the engineering/construction industry
    • The ability to multi task and prioritise workloads
    • An effective communicator
