Installation & Commissioning
Tailored to suit your needs exactly
Our services are completely flexible, versatile, hassle-free and can be delivered in any combination, any time you like, to meet your operational requirements. For example:
- We are often used by Prime Contractors for our specialist skills in the installation and commissioning of new apparatus. Our fitters, jointers and commissioning engineers regularly work with the likes of Associated British Ports, GTC, Power On Connections, and Interserve to install new power distribution networks, some of which are to be adopted by the REC’s.
- We frequently work on a labour only 'free issue' basis or supply specified switchgear, but are equally adept at operating at any point in between. Our objective is to deliver a ‘minimal involvement’ service where you issue instructions and can trust us to complete the works to budget and time.
- We can also offer you our considerable experience of receiving, positioning and testing any switchgear, installing the earthing, terminating any HV cables and commissioning the unit on site.
- Sometimes we’ll work from the ground up preparing civil foundations for installation of new switch gear or modifying existing plinths, We have the experience, expertise and resources to provide you with the complete works while keeping disruption to your premises and activities to a minimum.
- A number of customers trust us with their testing responsibilities. And as all high-voltage systems must be tested during their operational life, during installation and final commissioning, routinely as part of a scheduled maintenance programme or after prolonged periods of disuse, outsourcing this task to us makes commercial sense. This process ensures the installation operates as designed and all modes of standby equipment and protection systems work when required. Our fully tested, fully certified systems are delivered with all supporting calculations and supplementary data schedules issued. So should a catastrophic equipment failure and/or damage to property take place our documentation can quickly and easily be submitted for any insurance claim.
-
Installation & Commissioning
Safeguard your people, productivity and profitability
Switch or relay malfunction, under fault conditions, can have expensive, time consuming and disruptive consequences for your enterprise. These can range from damage to equipment and probable plant shut down to possible cascade tripping and risks for personnel with the inevitable involvement of the Heath & Safety Executive.
Regular testing of protective devices is therefore crucial to the integrity of any power system and the smooth running of your operations.
Our protection grading services ensures discrimination throughout a system which prevents damage and loss of supply should a fault occur during normal operation.
-
Cable Pulling/Installation
Expert in a wide range of applications
We can deliver a fully resourced cable pulling service for you which comes complete with our trailer mounted cable winch. Our experienced teams have installed HV & LV cables ranging from 6-600mm core sizes over distances of up to 200+ metres, successfully working in high level tray, duct and open trench environments.
While we are on site anyway, and after installation, we can also undertake all HV and LV terminations, as well as completing any necessary testing, to provide a total, efficient and highly cost effective package.
-
Routine Maintenance & Inspection
If your LV or HV network goes down, will your business go with it?
Regular and routine maintenance of your low- and high-voltage plant and associated equipment is mission critical for many enterprises and organisations. Not only to retain your operational efficiency but to protect you from falling foul of the law.
We can deliver such programmes for you and satisfy the various codes of practice recommended by (in some cases enforced by statute) the Health and Safety Executive, the British Standards Institute and the Electricity at Work Regulations, 1989.
For reference purposes, the British Standards relating to HV plant are, among others:
- B.S. 6626:1985
- B.S. 5263:1975
- B.S. 5611:1978
- B.S. 6423:1983
- B.S. 6480:1988
- B.S. 6622:1991
The various regulations also require that personnel working on electrical systems must be suitably trained and experienced. We only employ fully trained, competent, authorised and senior authorised people.
In addition and to add real value, we:
- follow strict schedules of work to create a controlled and safe environment
- offer a reporting system on plant condition, before and after any remedial treatment
- recommend any future work that’s needed and why
- issue a comprehensive formal report upon the completion of work.
-
Fault Location
When time is money, we’ll help save you both
Faults in your LV or HV network can be horrendous to locate, costing time and money. What’s more, they can have dire consequences for your operational efficiency, productivity and profitability.
So when you have a fault in your network and you want a rapid, effective response, call Energy Network Services.
Our expert ‘fault find and fix’ service gets your business re-energised fast, day or night. Using the latest technologies we can pinpoint the exact location of a fault to minimise the number of excavations and disruption. We can apply the following methods of location:
- Pulse Reflection
- Impulse Current
- Pulse Echo
- Murry/Wheatstone Resistance Bridge
And whilst on site we are able to offer a complete cable repair and SAP service to get your power supplies back on and staying on.
-
Thermographic Surveys
How to be wise before the event
Thermographic inspections are a regular part of our predictive maintenance programme and enable us to pinpoint potential problems before they occur. Our inspections highlight any impending faults in mechanical and electrical systems and components through detecting and quantifying increased temperatures that are due to increased resistance and friction.
Our state-of-the-art thermal infra-red cameras operate in a similar way to a standard video camera giving us an image of the temperature distribution of any component. Should any part of the component be significantly warmer than other similar parts, a recording of the suspect component is taken. The magnitude of temperature rise will be illustrated helping us to determine the seriousness of the potential fault.
-
Standby Generator Services
Strengthening your second line of defence
If you rely on standby generators for emergency cover, our specialist generator plant installation, overhaul and repair service will ensure your equipment works as it should, whenever and wherever you need it to.
Our term maintenance contracts, which include a call out cover, loadbank tests and simulated mains failures, provide maximum peace of mind for the minimum fixed fee.
In addition, our generator services are designed and delivered to save you money in terms of capital outlay, as we dismantle, test and where necessary renew components with the original manufacturer’s approved parts to extend equipment life at a fraction of the cost of plant replacement.
